Blueberry smoothie

Blueberry smoothie


6 oz. ice
8 oz. blueberries
6 to 8 oz. water or apple juice
1/2 tbsp. or more horchata powder (Nestlé brand works well)
1 small banana (optional)
Additional fresh blueberries, for garnish

Mary Rose Giusto came up with this recipe after friends asked Giusto Farms to provide smoothies for a fair booth. "You can use fresh or frozen blueberries and, of course, add other frozen fruits."


Using a Vita-Mix blender or mixer of comparable power, blend together all ingredients except garnish. Blend at high speed in short pulses, stirring frequently between pulses. Pour into glasses. Serve with fresh blueberries sprinkled on top.
