Baked onions

Ingredients

  • 4 large yellow onions
    1/3 cup water
    1 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1/4 cup melted butter

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Trim root end from onions and arrange them, trimmed-side down, in a buttered shallow casserole. Pour in water. Bake uncovered for 90 minutes or until tender when pierced with a fork. Using a folded paper towel as a pot holder, grasp the skin of each onion at the top and pull it off. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and drizzle with melted butter.
