If you want big meals with the freshest and best ingredients, look no further than the Hash House a Go Go in San Diego. From meatloaf to fried green tomatoes, this place dishes out large servings, with nearly everything served in skillets or huge platters.

The Hash House owners pull no punches about their appreciation for locally grown foods and their different array of dishes.

"What you know as comfort food is taken to a new level," said Chef and Co-Owner Andy Beardslee. "What you get when it comes out is pretty much old-fashioned, but freaked out, twisted up a bit. It looks different and is fun. Everyone loves it. It's cool."

One of the places that supplies the restaurant is Valdivia Farms in nearby Carlsbad, which grows numerous fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs.

The restaurant is famous for many items, including its one-pound burgers, that are stuffed with fresh mushrooms and Swiss cheese, bacon and mashed potato or other tasty ingredients.

There are other Hash House a Go Gos in Las Vegas and Kansas City.
